Shot with the 24-70 2.8 afs vr for years. Now I’ve used the Z 24-70 2.8 for about a year. I’ve got a lot of professional experience with both lenses. The Z lens is one of the best zoom lenses nikon has ever made. It is significantly better than the last generation F mount. The Z glass is THE reason to shoot with Z cameras in my opinion.

As expected from the above sharpness numbers, the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8E FL VR performs very well with all three teleconverters. The Nikon TC-14E III teleconverter has very little impact on lens sharpness, so if you want to extend the reach of the lens to 98-280mm focal length, definitely add the 1.4x TC to your camera bag. Re: Problem with Nikon 24-70mm ED VR. The "less sharp" shot is at 1/500 where VR is unlikely to help with camera shake. When sometimes AF is accurate (first shot) and less sharp (second shot) equipment rarely has an intermittent fault between shots and the problem is usually something else.
